Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to blast Takumi Minamino, following his performance in the 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp's side went 2-0 ahead after a goal from Curtis Jones and an own goal from Donald Love, although two strikes from Jason Cummings saw Shrewsbury force the European champions into a replay at Anfield.

Minamino in particular was quite ineffective.

The Japan international - making only his third appearance for Liverpool since his £7.25m move from RB Salzburg - had no shots on target, recorded no dribbles and also had four unsuccessful touches - he was also dispossessed once.

Minamino also committed two fouls and failed to make a single tackle, block or interception before being withdrawn in the 85th minute.

The criticism of the 25-year-old is harsh, seeing as he is still fairly new on Merseyside and is certainly still adapting to the English game - he should be afforded a few anonymous performances.

Let's see how the Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted to his display...

To kick off the reaction, this Liverpool supporter with the username @ClinicalGerrard said that Minamino is "actually so bad" before using crying emojis to emphasise their point - harsh.

Elsewhere, these two fans also criticised the attacking midfielder, although one did so in more scathing fashion than the other.

Chris Wright simply said that the Liverpool No.18 "needs to improve" and "looked frustrated" on Sunday, before asking if Klopp needs to take him out of the side and help him adapt.

Contrastingly, 'GDon' said "even Iago Aspas had a better impact" than the Japan international, before saying that 16-year-old Harvey Elliott is "ten times the player".

Meanwhile, Ahmet feels that Minamino is "just a ploy signing" to improve the Merseysiders' status in Asia, before adding that he "isn't good enough for the league".

Furthermore, Hashim said that Liverpool's latest signing "looks awful" but at least acknowledged that it's still early days in his career at Anfield.

Lastly, and quite humorously, James said that Minamino "looked like a penguin in a jungle" against Shrewsbury, emphasising just how out of place the new boy looked on Sunday.
