Liverpool fans are getting more and more concerned with star player Mohamed Salah’s recent performances after the Reds suffered a 1-0 loss at Napoli in Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Salah, who scored 44 goals for Liverpool last season, has not been at his best since the start of this season and is struggling to find that goalscoring form again that saw him win the PFA Player of the Year award.
With Jurgen Klopp’s men hosting defending champions Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday, some of the club’s fans want him to be benched for the encounter with new signing Xherdan Shaqiri starting instead.
The Swiss international replaced Salah in the 66th minute on Saturday when Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea. Shaqiri looks to be bringing some extra energy every time he takes the field, and some supporters feel that might be what they need come Sunday.
Here are some of the Twitter reactions by Liverpool fans:
Bench Salah versus City please

Shaqiri is definitely gonna be more hungry than salah right now. Shaqiri has a point to prove

Klopp must bench Salah, he is ineffective, he is boring

Correct result. Terrible performance. Players looked tired. Bobby and Salah are not on form, Sturridge and Shaqiri are. Klopps substitutions are always too late in the game

i think the manager has tough decisions .. maybe start @DanielSturridge , bench @MoSalah … start @XS_11official … bench @JHenderson .. although last nights result was not the end of the world .. the performance was just terrible !

Yes, agree that our group is really strong but you have the option to change players Juergen! Sturridge in, Salah sub, Shaqiri in, Gini sub…
