The summer transfer window was largely dominated by the 'will-he-won't-he' saga involving Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian was wanted by Barcelona, who stepped up their efforts to clinch the 25-year-old's signature following the departure of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the Spanish club's persistence, Liverpool managed to keep hold of the playmaker.

Widespread reports suggested that Coutinho wanted to move on, but since returning to the fold, the creative player has scored four goals and created three assists in nine appearances in all competitions.

History has shown that when Barcelona come calling, they eventually get their man.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, rumours are expected to begin circulating over Coutinho's future at Anfield.

One man who is understandably keen for the Brazilian to stay put is teammate Albert Moreno.

In an interview with The Guardian, the Spaniard opened up about Coutinho's situation and the left-back made his position on the saga very clear.

"I've said: 'Brother, don't go.' If I get to decide, Philippe's not going. He's my friend and always will be. I don't know what will happen. If it was down to me, I'd love him close to me for life, always enjoying seeing him play football, which is a wonder.

"But I can't interfere. It's Liverpool, Barcelona and him, and they decide. He's a big piece at Liverpool. Every fan, everyone who watches Liverpool, everyone who understands football knows that. They know that if he goes, it will leave a big hole."
