Nine-season servant considering Liverpool exit with PL rivals interested

According to reports from ESPN, Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is considering leaving the club during the summer transfer window.

The Slovakian international is into his ninth term at Anfield, arriving from Zenit in January 2008, but has managed just eleven starts across all competitions since Jurgen Klopp took charge from Brendan Rodgers in October.

More notably, the 31-year-old has been issued just one Premier League start since December, spending two months on the sidelines through injury and subsequently failing to reclaim his place in the starting XI.

ESPN report that ‘a source close to the player’ has informed them Skrtel is considering leaving Merseyside during the summer transfer window due to his lack of game time – which could be further affected by the arrival of centre-back Joel Matip from FC Schalke on a free transfer.

And the American news outlet further claim a number of clubs from the Premier League are already monitoring the centre-half’s situation at Anfield – as well as several foreign teams.
