No Liverpool bid for star as Leicester ace is transfer priority

Liverpool have not made an offer for Lorient’s Raphael Guerreiro, with Leicester’s Ben Chilwell their priority left-back target, according to reports from Goal.

The Reds have been aligned with the Portugal international today, after claims from the Ligue 1 club’s vice president, Alex Hayes, that they, alongside Dortmund, had submitted a bid for his signature.

However reports claim this to be untrue, although the club remain keen on adding a left-sided defender to their ranks this summer, with Chilwell of Leicester their main target.

The 19-year-old started the season just gone on loan at Huddersfield, but returned to the King Power Stadium over the winter as the Foxes secured a momentous Premier League title win – albeit he only featured in cup competition.

It’s understood that Liverpool are in discussions with Leicester regarding the teenager.

Should Chilwell sign for the Merseysiders, he would likely compete with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez for the left-back role under Jurgen Klopp next season.
