Ochoa puts Liverpool on alert after hinting at move

Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa

Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has alerted Liverpool by announcing his aspirations to play in the Premier League.

According to TalkSport, the Mexican goalkeeper was linked with the Merseyside club during the January transfer window, after impressive performances this season.

Rumours continue to circulate over the future of Pepe Reina, who has been repeatedly highlighted as a replacement for Victor Valdes at Barcelona. Reina started his career with the Catalan giants, after his Dad played for both Barca and Atletico Madrid.

Ochoa has been tipped to be a possible replacement for Reina if he was to leave for Spain, and the 27-year-old has suggested he would be keen to play in the Premier League.

The Mexican told Mercato365: “I do not regret being here, I have adapted to the way of life in France. My future? I think about finishing the season in the best possible way, then I will compare options.”

“However, I cannot deny that I would love to play in other leagues. I want to develop and join a major project.”

Reina has returned to form over recent weeks, after being criticised for costly mistakes against Manchester City and Arsenal this season. However, Liverpool must start to look at other goalkeepers, in case Reina decides to move to the Spanish giants.

Ochoa will be keen to impress in Ajaccio’s final 11 games of the season, where the club are currently 14th in the table, despite a point deduction at the start of the season.
