Liverpool’s transfer business over the course of the past few years has been a little hit and miss… For every Daniel Sturridge there has been an Iago Aspas and for every Philippe Coutinho a Luis Alberto has also rocked up at Anfield.
In truth, most clubs make the odd transfer mistake, but the Reds’ record of buying has been fairly poor, and it seems that their selling hasn’t been much better if Suso’s recent antics are anything to go by.
The Spanish playmaker was allowed to leave Merseyside in January after struggling to make the grade at the club he joined as a teenager. He looked to be a big part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans back in 2012/13, yet a loan spell at Almeria saw him slip way behind the likes of Raheem Sterling, and he was axed a couple of months ago as his contract expiry (due to have been this summer) loomed large.
And now in a friendly start for AC Milan – he’s had some early teething problems – Suso has well and truly shown his old side what they’re missing out on. The 21-year-old netted this double against Reggiana, and both goals were crackers.
Oi Brendan, you may wanna get on the blower to the San Siro!
