Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should make a move for Crystal Palace youngster Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the January transfer window to solve his recent problems at right-back.

What's the situation?

The German boss was forced to bring on centre-back Dejan Lovren at right-back in the closing stages of the win over Napoli on Tuesday evening, and it nearly cost Liverpool their place in the Champions League round of 16 as he lost Arkadiusz Milik, only to be saved by goalkeeper Alisson.

Klopp will be hoping that Trent Alexander-Arnold's foot injury is nothing serious, as he also lost Joe Gomez for six weeks in the recent win over Burnley. However, even when the former Charlton man is back to full fitness, a move for a right-back would be worthwhile so that Gomez can remain as a centre-back - where he is becoming a top player.

The only other natural option in the Liverpool squad is Nathaniel Clyne, but the 27-year-old has had a torrid time with injuries in recent years and he is out once again at the moment. If patience is running thin we wouldn't be surprised to see him moved on in the coming transfer windows.

Competition for places

The Reds then should look at signing youngster Wan-Bissaka, who has impressed so far this season despite being in a struggling Crystal Palace side.

The England U21 international has played 18 times in all competitions for the Eagles so far in this campaign, providing two assists in the process. He has proved himself to be a hard-worker and extremely adept defender though, meaning he could even be picked ahead of Alexander-Arnold in big games due to his defensive solidity.

With a contract at Selhurst Park until 2022, the 21-year-old would certainly not come cheap. However, he could be considered the perfect replacement for Clyne and would provide long-term competition for Alexander-Arnold.
