Liverpool fans have been eyeing a move for Marko Arnautovic to provide competition for Roberto Firmino, but the Reds would be much better served moving for Luka Jovic.

What’s the word?

Liverpool fans were not the only ones eyeing Arnautovic this week, after the West Ham star’s agent said he may leave the Hammers in pursuit of silverware.

Arnautovic is already 29 though and will likely command a huge transfer fee, which is why Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jovic is a much better fit for the Reds.

The 20 year-old has been in electric form so far this season, and would give Jurgen Klopp a genuine plan B if Firmino’s goal drought continues.

Klopp’s new plan B?

Jovic caught the eyes of the world in October, scoring a remarkable five goals as his side romped past Fortuna Dusseldorf in a 7-1 win.

The young striker has been an absolute revelation for Frankfurt this season, forming an unstoppable strike partnership with Newcastle-linked Sebastien Haller.

Jovic has scored 12 goals and added 2 assists in all competitions, and there’s no question that sticking the ball in the back of the net is his best trait.

That’s not all he does though, and his unique blend of power, technique and vision could make him the perfect competition for Firmino. Basically, think Aleksandar Mitrovic with less elbows and more technical ability.

He is winning two aerial duels per game in the Bundesliga this season, while also firing in 3.3 shots per game and completing 0.9 key passes and 0.8 successful dribbles per game.

His pressing numbers are nowhere close to Firmino’s, but at just 20 years of age it wouldn’t take long for him to adapt to Klopp’s system.

Jovic’s strength, link-up play, clever movement and clinical finishing are all exceptional for his age, and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.

The Serbian wonderkid could be everything Divock Origi was supposed to be at Anfield, and provide genuine competition for a struggling Firmino.

So, Liverpool fans, would you back a move for Jovic? Do you need a new back-up for Firmino? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
