It’s no secret that PSG are one of the world’s wealthiest clubs, and in their quest to win a fifth successive Ligue 1 title they are willing to spend big.
The Sun report that they could offer Lallana £200,000 per week as part of a £40m January transfer. If it comes off it’d make the Liverpool midfielder one of the top paid footballers in the world.
PSG director Patrick Kluivert is said to see the England international as one of, if not the best, English players in the entire league.
His form this season would certainly suggest so. With three goals and five assists for a resurgent Liverpool side this campaign, he was one of their top performers before being sidelined by a groin injury.
The money talked about seems extraordinary, but figures like that are what it would take to part him from Klopp’s grip, with the German increasingly aware of his side’s chances of a title tilt this season.
Paris Saint-Germain have already spent big this year buying Grzegorz Krychowiak and Jese from La Liga teams for a combined total of £40m. With David Luiz going to Chelsea for a similar fee however, they can certainly afford to splash the cash and buy a midfielder in his prime years at the age of 28.
