Liverpool midfielder Raheem Sterling hopes to secure a place in the England squad at the World Cup in 2014.
Sterling made his full Premier League debut in August and went on to make 36 appearances for Liverpool in the 2012/13 campaign before his season came to a premature end due to a thigh injury.
The 18-year-old has featured just once for the Three Lions to date, in a friendly defeat against Sweden in November, but Sterling hopes he can force himself into boss Roy Hodgson’s plans ahead of the World Cup in Brazil next summer.
“I want to hopefully get a regular place at Liverpool, get a good run of games and show the manager [Brendan Rodgers] what I can do with goals and assists and things like that,” said Sterling.
He added: “If I can score more goals, contribute more assists and have a good season then hopefully I can make the squad for the World Cup in Rio next year.”
