Liverpool fans have been voting and a clear majority want their club to agree a new contract with Daniel Sturridge.

Football FanCast raised the question to Anfield natives when the news broke that Jurgen Klopp was considering whether or not to offer the injury-prone striker a new deal.

Sturridge’s current contract on Merseyside is set to expire in the summer, raising the possibility that he could sign a pre-agreement with clubs from abroad and leave Liverpool on a free transfer – already Sevilla, Valencia, Monaco, AC Milan and Inter, along with clubs in the Chinese Super League, are said to be interested.

The £13.5million-rated striker, who joined from Chelsea in 2013, has netted 68 times in 150 appearances for the Reds, and is claimed to be determined to help Liverpool fight on all three fronts this season, starting with a first Premier League crown.

The Daily Mail reported that Klopp still values the 29-year-old highly and considers his quality as competition to Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi hard to replace.

Even with his injury frequency, having missed a total of 99 games since he left Stamford Bridge for Merseyside, Liverpool fans want a new contract put on the table.

Football FanCast’s recent poll found that 63% of those who voted would be in favour of Sturridge sticking around at Anfield.
