Gary Neville raised an interesting debate when he suggested to The Times that Liverpool should exit the Champions League early to focus on their Premier League title bid.

Last season, Jurgen Klopp's side made it to the Champions League final against all the odds, but they were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in Kiev.

After bringing in Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and goalkeeper Alisson, the Reds were tipped to challenge Manchester City for the English crown.

It is the first time in years that Liverpool have enough quality in the team to launch a genuine campaign for the title.

They have strengthened their position even further by winning all five of their top-flight fixtures.

Neville, who spent his entire career playing for the Reds' arch rivals Manchester United, has suggested that the Champions League should take a backseat for the Anfield club this season.
