Liverpool clinched the Club World Cup in Qatar on Saturday evening with a 1-0 victory over Flamengo and one player particularly impressed Andrew Robertson.

What's the word?

The Reds continued to exert their prowess on the international stage by clinching yet another major trophy at the weekend.

Brazilian giants Flamengo proved to be stern opposition for the Champions League holders but they ultimately prevailed courtesy of Roberto Firmino's strike in extra time.

It was a gritty performance by a side who look destined to go down as one of the most iconic in the club's rich history, and Jordan Henderson was once again a thoroughly impressive presence in the centre of midfield.

And the captain commanded esteemed praise from Robertson in light of the victory, per Liverpool Echo.

"Look, we have got big names in our squad but Hendo, I think, shows what Liverpool is about,

“He does in every single performance that he does..."

High praise indeed from his fellow teammate, but he didn't stop there and instead proceeded to pay him the highest possible compliment.

“He was magnificent against Flamengo, the best player on the park.”

Defying the doubters

Henderson, who is valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, has been a divisive player ever since he joined the club from Sunderland in 2011.

That Sir Alex Ferguson openly questioned the energetic midfielder's running style in his autobiography certainly didn't do his reputation any favours, and it's fair to say he's been battling against that stigma ever since.

But now he stands at the pinnacle of the footballing mountain as captain of the world champions, donning a Champions League winners medal around his neck and boasting genuine ambitions of leading the Reds to their first ever Premier League title in May 2020.

Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now...

Right now he's simply in the form of his life and it's worth noting at this point that his incisive pass provided Sadio Mane with the opportunity to square for Firmino to seal victory in the Club World Cup final.

Whether he was the best player on the park is up for debate, but there is no doubt that he deserves the acclaim from Robertson for another fantastic showing on the big stage.
