Rodgers brands striker world’s most expensive player

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Luis Suarez is worth over £100million, reports the Mirror.

The Reds have repeatedly insisted that Suarez is not for sale, after Arsenal failed with a £40,000,001 offer for the striker last summer. And with Real Madrid reportedly also interested in the Uruguayan, Rodgers has had to repeatedly state that the forward will not be sold.

This summer Gareth Bale was sold to Real Madrid for a world record fee of £85million, but Rodgers believes Suarez would cost more than that:

“He is certainly heading towards that,” said Rodgers. “If you look at the top people in the world, the Ronaldos, the Messis, those who have been doing it for five or six years, he would be right at that level.

“Luis is certainly on his way towards that. His consistency has been phenomenal and what you see now is a more mature player. He is a world-class talent. Things evolve and times change. Time will tell.”

Suarez has scored 28 league goals this season, and has helped fire Liverpool into a title fight. But Rodgers isn’t expecting any offers near the amount the Gunners bid in the summer, and already has his answer prepared for any team that makes an approach for the Uruguayan.
