Benfica slid to their third defeat of the season against SC Braga on Saturday.

The Portuguese side still top the table in their country but they are now just one point ahead thanks to their 1-0 defeat - Joao Palhinha scored the only goal of the game for the away side. It is a match that Liverpool may have had an eye on due to the fact that two of their reported transfer targets were in action: Carlo Vinicius (O Jogo via Sport Witness) and Ruben Dias, per Daily Express.

The Eagles may have failed to pick up all three points, but Dias' display was far from disappointing.

For the most part, he was solid in defence, making two clearances, blocking one shot. making one interception and winning two tackles. He also prevailed in eight of the 15 ground duels he participated in, as well as three in five in the air. He even showed a certain amount of composure on the ball, completing two out of four dribbles he attempted as well as one key pass.

However, there was one part of his performance that may just have worried Jurgen Klopp. The 22-year-old ended up giving away five fouls, which was two more than any other player on the pitch. That means his average fouls conceded per game is at 0.9, which is worse than both Joe Gomez (0.8) and Virgil van Dijk (0.4).

Whilst it may not be too far ahead of the former, it is worth remembering that Dias plays in a league that is generally far less competitive than the Premier League. Since 2002, only two teams have won the Portuguese top tier - Benfica and Porto - and Dias' side have won five out of the last six. As such, you would expect him to be under little pressure every game, and to at least be in control on those occasions he is especially considering he has a buy-out clause of  €100m (£83m). This facet of his display may give Klopp some food for thought in the future.

Meanwhile, this Liverpool signing could help rejuvenate Naby Keita.
