Liverpool fans disagree with the vote for Goal of the Decade

The past decade was a contrasting one for Liverpool.

They started it off in financial difficulty and there were even rumours of administration. They ended it at the top of the Premier League and as European Champions, with the Reds now on course to win their first league title in 30 years.

Over the course of the previous 10 years, there were plenty of fantastic goals scored by those to pull on the liver bird shirt. And now, the top three of the decade have been decided.

Emre Can’s stunning acrobatic effort against Waftord came in third place, whilst Divock Origi’s crucial strike versus Barcelona in last season’s Champions League semi-final against Barcelona was voted second-best. The overall winner was Mohamed Salah’s fantastic solo effort against Tottenham.

The big fat Liverpool quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Anfield?

In January 2019, by how many centimetres were Liverpool denied scoring a goal against Manchester City?

Whilst they were all good goals, many disagree with the final ranking.

Some would far rather have seen Origi’s strike win.

Whilst it may not have been the most aesthetically-pleasing goal of the decade, it was arguably one of the most important, and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s vision means it is deserving of its place so high up.

Others were surprised that Luis Suarez’s goal against Norwich was not also included in the top three.

That was an amazing strike, and the Uruguay international can probably feel hard done by not to be included in the final ranking. However, bearing in mind it was scored in 2013, perhaps many forgot about it.

Others, meanwhile, didn’t even believe it was Salah’s best strike of the decade.

The strike against the Blues was a stunner, and arguably more impressive.

As ever with this kind of vote, someone will always be unhappy with the final result!

In other news, Liverpool complete a truly bizarre signing.
