Mohamed Salah is one of Liverpool's most important players.

The Egypt international was a joint-winner of the Premier League Golden Boot last season, and he already has 14 goals this term as well - only Jamie Vardy (17) and Sergio Aguero (16) have more.

Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now...

However, there is some potentially bad news for the Reds in regards to the start of next season. Egypt's U23 coach Shawky Gharib has confirmed his intention (ON Sport via Goal) to call the 27-year-old up for the Tokyo Olympics later this year.

He said: "Out of the three senior players we’ll call-up, Salah is the only one we’re settled on so far because he’s simply one of the top three players in the world.

"I haven’t talked to Salah at all about him joining the U-23 squad for the Olympics, but in all honesty, his participation in the Olympics will need a little effort from him as well."

This has got the club's supporters reacting in big numbers, and a couple are obviously unhappy with the update.

Obviously, should he make the trip to Japan, it will be a blow to Klopp's plans for the start of the next campaign. With the final being on August 8th, that could mean him missing the first game of the season - but it is the warm-up preparations he will not be able to be a part of that could be the biggest issue.

Some fans aren't too bothered though, it appears.

Whilst it may only be at the start of the season, the lack of top preparation with his club side could be detrimental during the campaign, and the fact that it will be another summer without any real time off - he was at the African Cup of Nations in 2019 and the World Cup in 2018 - could have a negative effect on his overall health.

A couple of supporters have connected this news to a potential move for Timo Werner.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the Germany international, so it does not seem too unlikely.

One fan even suggested that they should look to move Salah on.

Whilst you can understand the thinking behind it, he is surely too valuable a player to sell for such a reason.

Klopp will surely be hoping one of his main men can have the summer off and get fully refreshed for a new season at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's new sponsorship deal could affect their pre-season plans.
