Liverpool should consider making a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, despite the Liverpool Echo reporting that the club are not looking for another centre-back.

What's the word?

The Merseyside outfit have had a very strong transfer window by bringing in four new signings, including goalkeeper Alisson from Roma.

Jurgen Klopp has addressed some problem areas as well as add some extra bodies to strengthen the squad.

One position that has not been a main focus this summer is at centre-back, despite the club having many defensive problems.

Since Virgil van Dijk arrived from Southampton in January, the back line has vastly improved, but there are still question marks over who his long-term partner should be.

On Wednesday, the Liverpool Echo reported that Klopp has no interest in bringing in another defender before the window closes.

However, the German coach should consider Jonathan Tah before making a final decision.

Why would this be a good deal?

The 22-year-old still has room to grow, but he has proven in the Bundesliga that he is capable of anchoring a defence at the highest level.

Tah joined Leverkusen in 2015 and went on to become a regular figure in the team.

The Germany international, who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt, has qualities that Klopp would like; he has football intelligence and his comfortable with the ball at his feet.

On top of that, the young defender has a strong aerial presence, and he would certainly learn a lot from Van Dijk.

Dejan Lovren is currently the Dutchman's centre-back partner, but Tah would challenge it if he were to move to Anfield.
