It has been almost a year since Simon Mignolet was dropped as Liverpool’s number one goalkeeper.
The Belgium international held the role for four-and-a-half years before Jurgen Klopp decided to make a change in January 2018.
A string of mistakes led the manager to push Mignolet down to the number two position and promote Loris Karius.
The young German became first choice for the second half of the 2017-18 season, but it was not long before he was shown the door.
After making two notable howlers in Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev, the club decided to search for a new keeper.
In the end, Brazil’s number one Alisson was bought from Roma and he automatically took the number one spot.

Karius left to join Besiktas on a two-year loan, while Mignolet stayed put as second string.
Given his lack of minutes this season, it would not have been a shock to see him leave Anfield in January.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, Mignolet is expected to stay until the end of the season as Klopp wants him to remain as back-up for Alisson.
On Reddit, a number of Reds fans posted their thoughts on the situation.
