On Tuesday, Momo Sissoko retired from football.
The big fat Liverpool quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Anfield?
As per Transfermarkt, the Mali international made over 400 appearances during a career that spanned over 15 years, of which 86 came during his time with Liverpool. A defensive midfielder, he scored just once for the Reds, but he appears to still be a fan favourite – he won the FA Cup, two charity shields and a UEFA Super Cup with the Anfield outfit.
Many Reds fans have taken to Twitter to wish their former player a happy retirement, and there has been plenty of praise for him.
What a guy! I loved his tenacity and passion and will never forget how instrumental he was in midfield. That eye injury was such a tragedy and I’m glad it didn’t do worse damage. Always dear to our hearts, YNWA Momo

Momo, your courage and willingness to put it all on the line for your team will always be remembered. #YNWA

Klopp would have loved this guy, just runs for days!

Clearly he is remembered fondly by Reds fans.
Others, meanwhile, were quick to mention that he was not valued as highly as perhaps he should have been.
SO underrated.

Considering he played in a midfield including Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, it was always likely that he wasn’t going to receive as much praise as perhaps he should have done.
Others have even compared him to one player currently in Liverpool’s squad.
Solid … played like Fabhino with more aggression 👏🏽👏🏽

It would be interesting to see whether the 34-year-old would have been able to rival the Brazil international for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Happy retirement Momo!
In other news, even Liverpool fans don’t agree with this man’s praise for Jurgen Klopp.
