Everyone knows the quality of Alex Song. He was a consistent and integral part in Arsenal’s midfield merely two years ago. He was the link between defence and attack, receiving the ball and threading it to the forwards. Considered a defensive midfielder, the Cameroonian supplied 11 assists in the league alone back in 2011/2012.
And Barcelona shelled out £25million in the summer of 2012 for the 26-year-old, expecting him to grow with the squad. However it wasn’t meant to be, as Song has found it extremely difficult to break into the first team at the Nou Camp.
With his prime coming soon, it is essential he moves on to progress his career. Liverpool would be a good fit, playing a style very similar to Barcelona in which Song will sit in defensive midfield partnering Reds legend Steven Gerrard.
