Sought-after strike star wants Liverpool move

Liverpool are still keen on Burnley’s Danny Ings and the player himself has made Anfield his preferred destination, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The current Clarets star – who fired 21 goals in the Championship to help his side to promotion last season – has been the subject of intense rumours surrounding his future over the course of 2015 so far.

Although one of Burnley’s key men, his future looks to be away from Turf Moor, with the 22-year-old’s contract due to expire in under six months’ time.

Reports earlier today suggested that he’d agreed a pre-contract deal to join David Moyes’ Real Sociedad at the end of the season, yet it’s now understood that such talk is wide of the mark.

And now the Echo claim that Liverpool are still keen on Ings, with the player himself favouring relocating to Merseyside over a switch to Spain.

The Reds have already had a £4m bid for the hit-man knocked back and have reluctantly accepted that a deal will not happen before the current transfer window closes tonight.

However, they may have to battle off competition from the likes of Spurs to agree a compensation figure for the goal-getter at the end of his contract.
