Liverpool are, quite literally, the champions of the world.

The Club World Cup may not be the most prestigious or coveted of footballing awards but nonetheless it's an accolade that the Reds are rightfully basking in following a 1-0 victory over Flamengo in Qatar.

Social media has been swamped with various posts from players, pundits and official accounts all paying tribute to Jurgen Klopp's latest achievement, but few will be greeted with more enthusiasm than the one posted by Steven Gerrard.

The Anfield favourite took to Instagram in light of the victory over the Brazilian giants and posted an image featuring three trophies: the Champions League, the Super Cup and, of course, the recent Club World Cup.

What a year for the redmen indeed. Their unrelenting attitude has seen them answer almost every challenge that's been put in front of them.

The only exception was the Premier League title challenge during 2018/19 which saw them miss out on a maiden victory in the competition by virtue of Manchester City's incredible resilience as they tipped the Merseyside outfit to top spot by a solitary point.

That aside, it has been a year of progression and glory for Klopp and his incredible Liverpool team, and the sizeable lead they've established at the summit of England's top flight suggests 2020 will follow a similar trend.

The spirit of Liverpool's never-say-die legend continues to loom large on Merseyside.

In other news, West Ham appear to be leading the race for a reported Liverpool target.
