Liverpool are considering making a £26.3m offer for Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

What's the word?

There is no denying that the Merseyside outfit are in need of a new goalkeeper this summer.

Manager Jurgen Klopp gave Loris Karius the number one role at the start of 2018, and even though he put in some good performances between the sticks, his howlers against Real Madrid in the Champions League final cannot go unnoticed.

The German made two howlers that led to goals for Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale in the 3-1 loss in Kiev.

A number of names have been linked to the Merseyside outfit, and now a new one has come into contention.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Reds are interested in Strakosha and are willing to spend £26.3m on his signature.

The 23-year-old, who has earned five international caps for Albania, conceded 65 goals and kept 17 clean sheets in 53 appearances in all competitions for Lazio last season.

Is he good enough?

Not many clubs win a Premier League title without a top-class keeper in between the sticks, and that is what Liverpool desperately need.

With all due respect to Strakosha, the young Albanian is not quite at that level that is required.

Liverpool do not want to make the mistake of bringing in a shot-stopper that is similar to Karius's standard.

If needs be, the Merseyside outfit should be willing to splash the cash on a keeper that could reach the heights of David de Gea or Ederson.

Unfortunately for Strakosha, he does not have enough experience just yet to be Liverpool's number one.
