Suarez hints at Liverpool stay with Champions League football

Luis Suarez has hinted that he could stay at Liverpool if they qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Uruguayan striker looked set to leave Anfield last summer, after openly agitating for a move away from the club.

However, the Reds held firm to keep their man, and even rejected an ill-advised £40m plus £1 offer from Arsenal for his services.

The decision looks to have been justified so far, with Suarez leading both the Premier League’s scoring and assists charts, which has contributed heavily to their current top four slot.

The 27-year-old is still being linked with a potential transfer despite appearing to be happy at the club once again, but he has suggested that he may stay to experience European football at Anfield:

“I dream about playing with Liverpool in the Champions League, yes,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“My team-mates have told me that it’s something incredible, something truly unique, to play in that competition at Anfield. I’d love to do it. That said, there’s a lot of the league left to play. We have to keep doing the things we’re doing.

“We know all about those nights at Anfield. Everyone in the world knows about it, knows the club.

“All players appreciate the significance of the Champions League here, and that it’s difficult to match Liverpool on that stage.”

The likes of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in Suarez, who only penned a new mega money contract shortly before Christmas.
