The Swans star has been a revelation since his arrival in South Wales from Rayo Vallecano last summer, and was widely held as the signing of season for the last campaign.
Parallels have been drawn between him and Liverpool newbie Iago Aspas, who also arrived from a club in La Liga’s lower echelons, Celta Vigo.
The duo spent some time playing together earlier in their careers, and Michu believes that his ex-colleague will prove to be a Premier League hit:
“They (Liverpool) have one of my friends, Iago Aspas,” he told the club’s official website.
“I think he’s really good and is going to have a good season. I want to play against him.”
Michu also heaped praise on a former Liverpool player who has now joined him at the Liberty Stadium.
Jonjo Shelvey completed a summer move to the club from Anfield after growing frustrated by a lack of first0team opportunities.
Michu has been impressed by the midfielder and believes that he will handle the pressure of playing against his former club on Monday night well.
“I am really happy with Jonjo,” he added.
“I think he is going to have a good season because he’s a top player, and he will be important for us.
“He knows that playing against Liverpool is always difficult, but we are going to try and get the points at home. We need it.”
Is Michu right? Will Iago Aspas succeed at Liverpool?
