Lazar Markovic scored his first league goal for Liverpool against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light today.
After failing to win what appeared to be a definite penalty in the early stages of the game, the Serb made sure Liverpool fans didn’t suffer for too long with this tenacious run and goal.
Referee Craig Pawson correctly let play go on, at least not compounding his early mistake not to award the penalty, and Markovic gladly obliged.
Despite never looking like he was actually in control of the ball, the Serbian forward scored regardless.
Apparently just running really fast towards to goal with the ball in front of you is enough this days.
Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon had the best saves to shots ratio of any keeper in the Premier League this season before today’s game but could do nothing to stop ‘The Laser’.
The goal means Sunderland are now unable to obtain their preferred 0-0 result.
