According to reports in Italy, via Sport Witness and CalcioNapoli24, Liverpool are ready to go all in on trying to sign Piotr Zielinski.

The Reds have been linked with the midfielder ever since they had a bid rejected for him in 2016, and the most recent report claims they are ready to stump up €60m (£51.8m) to secure his services this time.

The Napoli ace plays on the left flank or as part of a midfield three, and has scored six goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season.

We asked the writers here at Football FanCast if the Reds should move forward with a £51.8m swoop for the long-time Jurgen Klopp target…

Who has the loudest fans in Europe? PSG certainly state their claim in the video below...

"In a word, no. Zielinski simply isn't a £50m player in my opinion. For that money you would expect to be getting a player that scores goals and assists regularly given he is attack-minded, but it just isn't the case. It's only some impressive form in the last few weeks that means he has six goals and two assists for the campaign in all competitions despite often playing as a left winger. Napoli do have some players the Reds should be interested in though. Saving money on Zielinski would allow them to splash out on Koulibaly instead."

"Absolutely not. Naby Keita is just starting to strut his stuff and there are definitely other areas that need improving away from the midfield, such as upfront and at left-back with Alberto Moreno leaving. Players like Kalidou Koulibaly and Timo Werner should definitely be prioritised, while a move for the Polish international would upset Keita just as he is finally finding his feet."

"No. Liverpool don’t need another midfielder. They seem to be targeting the wrong profile of player this summer but it’s hard to pick holes in such an in-form XI. Liverpool surely need reinforcements in central defence and up front but their midfield is as complete as it can be. Take that money and spend it on Kostas Manolas instead. Or, better yet, activate Toby Alderweireld’s release clause and form one of the best centre-back partnerships in Premier League history."
