They’d be mad… Liverpool urged to avoid Man United star

Liverpool would be foolish to pursue a summer move for Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao, according to former Reds star Steve Nicol.

The Merseysiders have emerged as shock candidates to snap up the 29-year-old this summer of late, with the Colombian looking unlikely to stay at Old Trafford beyond his loan spell.

Falcao arrived at United from Monaco last summer in a big money season-long deal, but his adaptation to the English game has been a stuttering one, limiting his game time and output – he’s netted just four goals.

Despite this, the South American’s stock remains relatively high, with his spells at Porto and Atletico Madrid, before he switched to the Stade Louis II in a deal worth around £50m in 2013, prolific.

However, Nicol is adamant that his old club will not be taking a risk on the forward:

“I’ve always thought that anything I have read in the papers is probably absolute garbage and anybody who has seen Falcao play this year is not going to buy him.” He told talkSPORT.

“And Liverpool definitely ain’t buying him.”
