Oh Christmas time. The festive period is one in which we eat too much, drink a little bit more than we should and watch more football that we can at any other time of the year.
That last point has a knock-on effect for Fantasy Premier League managers, with the quantity of matches allowing us all to get much-needed points on the board and rocket up our leagues.
So, making one or two choice additions with fixtures in mind makes sense, and Liverpool offer lots of points potential. The Reds play Stoke (H), Manchester City (H) and Sunderland (A) between now and January 2.
In this run of fixtures, Nathaniel Clyne (£5.7m) could be worth getting on board. Two clean sheets on the spin seems to suggest that the Reds have found some sort of defensive stability, while the ex-Southampton man’s willingness to bomb on makes him a threat at the other end – his cross was headed him by Adam Lallana at Middlesbrough last week.
Although injuries have been unkind for Liverpool in recent weeks, one man to have benefitted is Divock Origi (£6.8m). The Belgian had five goals in five games in all competitions up until the 1-0 win at Everton on Monday, but with Philippe Coutinho still battling to be back and Daniel Sturridge not yet 100% fit, he’ll likely be in the XI for at least the Stoke game. 9.3% of managers own him now, but he remains cost-effective enough to overlook that lack of differential.
A man reinvented, Lallana (£7.4m) has dropped deeper under Jurgen Klopp this term, but is currently enjoying his most prolific spell as a Red, with six goals and assists to his name. With 7.7 points-per-90-minutes this term, he a safe bet.
