Liverpool will be hoping for a straightforward progression to the fourth round of the FA Cup when they host League Two high-flyers Plymouth Argyle in the third round at Anfield later today.

With the Premier League being the ultimate focus for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp this season, the German manager is expected to make wholesale changes to his starting XI for the visit of the Pilgrims, with a number of younger players expected to be blooded – as they have already been in the League Cup this term.

The Merseyside outfit will rightly be the overwhelming favourites to win the tie on paper, but it might not be a simple task against the Devon outfit who are flying in League Two – Argyle are second and four points behind leaders Doncaster Rovers as they look to gain promotion to League One.

Here are THREE Plymouth dangermen that could shock Liverpool…

With the form he has shown this season, there is no doubt that Graham Carey is Plymouth’s main danger man.

The left-sided attacking midfielder is the Pilgrims’ top scorer with ten goals in all competitions, including the winner against Newport in the previous round of the FA Cup that set up a third round tie at Anfield for the Devon outfit.

A Liverpool fan, the 27-year-old – who also has eight assists in League Two – will be keen to make a big impression on Merseyside and will look to get at young Reds full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to start at right-back.

Despite being 25-years-of-age, Plymouth Argyle are the 11th different club of Jervis’ career, but he might have just found a good home with the Pilgrims.

The 6ft. 3” striker has shown that he can score goals by getting six this season, while he has also proved that he is a player that also works for the team by adding three assists in the league.

Because of his height, he could certainly be a handful for whoever starts at the heart of the Liverpool defence.

After impressing during what turned out to be a season-long loan spell with Plymouth Argyle last term, the Pilgrims re-signed the winger on loan from Reading in August in a deal which is due to run out in less than a fortnight’s time.

The 22-year-old has once again impressed for the League Two outfit during the current campaign – scoring four goals and picking up three assists in the league – and he will be one that the Liverpool defence will need to keep a close eye on.
