As Sunshine Anderson once said, we've 'heard it all before' when it comes to the England national team. We make hard work of tepid opposition and are inevitably subdued by superior nations, which suggests watching the Three Lions' friendly with Spain this evening will be a largely pointless exercise.

Indeed, La Roja's trip to Wembley will tell us nothing new about England's endless failings on the world stage, so we're advising Premier League fans to span their horizons a little further tonight by checking out some of the many other international fixtures from around the globe.

And from a club perspective, Liverpool fans could learn a lot from watching Italy and Germany's friendly, which kicks off 15 minutes before the England game. Here are THREE reasons why.

Potential left-back targets

James Milner has thoroughly excelled in his ad hoc left-back role this season, but given Jurgen Klopp's lack of faith in Alberto Moreno most would like to see Liverpool sign a natural No.3 in the coming transfer windows.

And we should see at least one rumoured Reds target in action for Die Mannschaft, with Koln's Jonas Hector (heavily linked during the summer) currently Joachim Low's first option on the left side of defence.

But there are a number of alternatives on show, not least including Bayer Leverkusen prodigy Benjamin Henrichs (whose sensational performance against Tottenham in the Champions League is shown above) and Italy duo Mattia De Sciglio and Luca Antonelli.

Indeed, if Liverpool fans fancy some left-back window shopping this evening, Italy vs. Germany is a fantastic place to start.

German wizzkids

Klopp has already imported some of the Bundesliga's best talent since arriving at Anfield last year, most notably central defender Joel Matip and goalkeeper Loris Karius. With transfer valuations rather modest in Germany, that policy looks set to continue and tonight's friendly could give an insight into which Die Mannschaft prospects Klopp will attempt to swoop for next.

Indeed, due to the nature of their opposition during the current international break, beating San Marino 8-0 before facing Italy in a friendly this evening, Joachim Low has selected an incredibly youthful Germany squad with 13 players aged 24 or younger - so there will be plenty of prodigious German talent on show against Azzurri.

We've already touched on Benjamin Henrichs but his team-mates Jonathan Tah and Kevin Volland, Schalke duo Max Mayer (pictured) and Leon Goretzka, Bayern's Joshua Kimmich and Dortmund's Julian Wiegl are also well worth a watch.

Insigne or Belotti - who should Reds swoop for?

Germany v Italy - EURO 2016 - Quarter Final

Interestingly, Liverpool have been linked with Lorenzo Insigne and Andrea Belotti in recent weeks, by The Daily Star and CalcioMercato respectively, as the tabloids look towards the January transfer window.

It could be a huge month for the Reds as they continue to chase the Premier League crown; the transfer vultures will undoubtedly be circling Philippe Coutinho once again, whilst Liverpool are set to lose attacking accomplice Sadio Mane to the African Cup of Nations.

That suggests Klopp could be forced to swoop for at least one replacement in January and tonight's game should give a clear indication of which player Liverpool need more. Insigne is more of a wide-man, whilst Belotti is a natural goalscorer - bagging three in his first four outings for Italy, including a brace against Liechtenstein last week.
