As we approach the January transfer window, speculation around the future of players is reaching fever pitch. For big clubs like Liverpool, that chatter is even more pronounced with the Reds often linked with stars from all around the world.

How about some closer to home, though? Is there value for Liverpool in the Premier League?

We reckon so and Jurgen Klopp likely doesn't have to travel far to find some signings that can fit into his marauding, attacking system.

Stoke City are a team performing well in the Premier League right now. Under the guidance of Mark Hughes they look a safe bet to finish comfortably towards the top end of 'midtable'.

They actually have a number of former Liverpool players in their ranks; Glen Johnson, Charlie Adam, Peter Crouch and Joe Allen. But what about in the other direction? Do any of their current first team squad have what it takes to play at Anfield?

Well, with the two sides due to meet in league action just after Christmas, we thought we'd have a look at THREE Stoke players that we think would fit in well at Liverpool...

Xherdan Shaqiri

Shaqiri

With three goals in eleven Premier League appearances so far this season, Xherdan Shaqiri is continuing the fine form that he showed at Euro 2016.

Often the talisman for club and country he'd be an excellent signing for most Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

The three-goal haul this season has already equalled his total for the entirety of last season and he's set to have one of his best campaign in a Stoke shirt. That's sure to send the transfer rumour mill into overdrive at some point.

With big club experience at Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, Shaqiri would no doubt fit well into Liverpool's squad and with the backing of Klopp he could be a key creative force in that current Reds' first-team.

Jack Butland

Jack Butland

Having missed most of 2016 with a bad ankle injury that has required two surgeries, Butland isn't best placed to move to Liverpool in January. If he can return to action over the next couple of months and regain his Stoke spot then we're sure big clubs will be interested in his services again, though.

With four England caps, he's one of the players that will be fighting it out for that regular Three Lions No.1 spot going forward.

The current Liverpool goalies aren't exactly filling fans with confidence and a big name signing would go a long way to easing concerns.

Despite being third, no team in the top seven of the English Premier League has conceded more goals than Liverpool. While that shows how impressive they've been in an attacking sense, it also shows that if they improved defensively they could be having an even better season than they are.

One player likely to fit in well at Liverpool is Bruno Martins Indi. However, any deal to bring him to Anfield would have to be done through Porto, as Martins Indi is on loan at Stoke for the entirety of this season.

He was a key part of the Netherlands side who secured third place in the 2014 World Cup. Also having Champions League experience with Porto, he's got the pedigree required to make it at Liverpool and give Klopp a different defensive option.
