Top man: Liverpool fans praise Seamus Coleman after his comments on Sean Cox

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to praise Seamus Coleman, after the Everton defender spoke out on his contributions in helping Reds supporter Sean Cox.

Cox suffered a severe brain injury after he was attacked by a Roma fan before Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final tie at Anfield last season.

The attacker was jailed for three-and-a-half years, and Cox has only been able to leave the hospital twice for brief visits back to his family home.

There will be a fundraising event for the Irishman this Friday night, where an Irish legends team takes on a Liverpool legends team in a bid to raise money for Cox’s care after he leaves the hospital.

Toffees right-back Coleman has been a huge help in helping Cox and his family recover from the incident, twice donating €5,000 to his fundraiser page, whilst Jurgen Klopp has also made a significant donation.

Coleman said: “I just pictured him leaving Dublin airport, excited to go to a football match, and to think that something like that could happen just touched a spot.”

Despite Everton and Liverpool being city rivals and not being too fond of each other, Coleman’s kind words towards a fellow Irishman have been met with praise by Reds supporters on Twitter…
