Jurgen Klopp should already be planning a future move for Leicester sensation Hamza Choudhury, after the 21-year-old put in an impressive display as the Foxes trumped Everton at Goodison Park.

The Loughborough-born ace worked his way through the Leicester youth ranks between 2011 and 2015 before his senior career kicked off with loan moves to Burton Albion over the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.

Upon his return, Choudhury debuted at the King Power Stadium under the management of Craig Shakespeare, but failed to land a regular role in the senior side despite featuring on occasion towards the end of the season.

The tides may be changing for the 5 foot 10 midfielder famed for his afro, though, as Claude Puel has turned to his services four times since the start of December, the most consistent run of minutes in the first-team of his career to date.

If Klopp or his scouting team were watching the Goodison Park affair on New Year’s Day, they would have identified the growing stature of the England Under 21 international, who would serve well in the German’s side at Anfield.

Hamza Choudhury's stats vs Everton

Choudhury notched an overall WhoScored rating of 7.8 against Everton, only bettered by Man of the Match Ricardo Pereira, and his involvement was key to Leicester's success.

In total, the Leicester product recorded 52 touches over the 90 minutes, with those leading to 25 completed passes – one of which was a key pass. His all-round abilities also came through with five successful tackles and five interceptions – the most of any player on either side in both respects.

It would be beneficial, however, that any Liverpool move for Choudhury’s services comes in the summer rather than January in order for the 21-year-old to continue his development without the pressure of a title race.
