We're enjoying a fantastic start to the Premier League in 2017 with Sunderland and Liverpool providing all the drama at the Stadium of Light in one of today's 3pm kick-offs.

In his first start since October, Daniel Sturridge got the Reds off to a flyer with a lovely poacher's header past Mannone. Jermain Defoe then equalised with an expert penalty at the other end to score his 10th of the season.

That's the least of it with both goalkeepers having to make vital stops to keep the scores as they are at 1-1 going into the break.

It's a massive game for both sides. Liverpool need a victory badly to try and keep up with Chelsea at the top of the table. At the other end, Sunderland need points as they battle it out to survive relegation from the Premier League.

We're expecting more fireworks in the second half given the open nature of the game so far. Who can come out on top and kick-off the new year with a bang?
