Liverpool fans on Twitter have been busy discussing just how underrated Gini Wijnaldum is, and how unnoticed his work in the middle of the park goes at times.
Wijnaldum arrived on Merseyside in a £25m deal from Newcastle as one of Jurgen Klopp’s first signings, and has gone from strength to strength under the German boss.
Are the media letting Jurgen Klopp off lightly for his lack of silverware? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…
The Dutch international has been one of the Reds’ standout performers this season, quietly going about his work in midfield with some tidy passing, vital reading of the play and the odd goal or two.
Whilst his performances were going somewhat unnoticed, the 28-year-old’s efforts have slowly become more recognised over the course of the campaign as Klopp’s side enter April still in the title race as well as the Champions League.
However, the overall feeling is that the former PSV Eindhoven star is extremely underrated, with his significance in making the side tick and perform to its best vital to Klopp…
Gini Wijnaldum – overrated, underrated or fairly rated?

Severely underrated, maybe once did he score over an 8 in post match from the Echo. Does all the dirty work

Underrated for what he does for us. Passes the ball well, makes his tackles, good in the air, holds the ball up, hardly ever looses the ball in possession and has a smile brighter than my future…

Underrated. He has been tactically and technically fantastic for several seasons but people are only noticing it more this season because 1. He started at DM and showed people what a quick thinking/passing midfield can do. 2. Better def and mid players around him.

Underrated, strong as hell, team player, great touch just needs to add his Holland goals to our side.

Completely underrated in his role at LFC but a player that is capable of adding more goals to his game

Become a great player. Underrated by everyone but Liverpool fans. Always manages a sneaky tackle and is amazing at keeping the ball

One of the most underrated players I’ve ever seen
