Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk joined his Netherlands teammates on a bike ride through a park in Rotterdam ahead of their training session on Thursday, before preparations for the UEFA Nations League clash with France were to step up a gear.

Former Everton and Southampton boss Ronald Koeman led his Dutch side, which includes Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake and former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay, on the cycle.

The Netherlands are currently second in their group with three points after two matches, four points behind Friday's opponents France. 27-year-old Van Dijk, who recently took over the captaincy after his hugely impressive start to life at Liverpool, and his teammates will then travel to Gelsenkirchen to face Germany on Monday.

Joachim Low's side are bottom of Group A1 though with just one point, meaning if the Netherlands beat France then the Germans will be relegated before even getting to play their old rivals for the second time.
