West Ham & Liverpool transfer race: Playmaking target set to make move

According to reports from L’Equipe, Liverpool and West Ham loan target Martin Odegaard is set to complete a move to Ligue 1 side Rennes.

The 17-year-old is rated as one of the most exciting youngsters in world football but has struggled to impact since moving to the Bernabeu from Stromsgodset in January 2015.

Indeed, the Norway international – who has already represented his country on nine occasions, has thus far made just one appearances for Real Madrid’s first string, instead spending his time with Castilla.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are now looking to send the teenager out on loan and West Ham have been put in the frame to snap him up alongside Liverpool.

But it appears the Premier League duo are set to miss out on Odegaard, with L’Equipe reporting that he’s on the verge of signing for Rennes on a season-long loan.

West Ham kick off their Premier League campaign this evening with a clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
