Liverpool fans on Twitter have been busy discussing Pep Guardiola's influence in Raheem Sterling's career, with many suggesting that the Spaniard has had little effect on the forward's upward trajectory.

Sterling arrived at Manchester City from Liverpool back in 2015 for a fee of around £49m, where he has since gone on to become one of the most prolific wide men in Europe under Guardiola, winning numerous medals along the way.

The England international recently hit a hat-trick against Czech Republic, taking his total for the current campaign to an eye-catching 24 goals for both club and country.

This form comes after the 24-year-old hit 18 goals and recorded 11 assists for the Citizens last season as they won the Premier League and Carabao Cup double.

Some Liverpool fans on Twitter, however, have been quick to denounce Guardiola's impact in this, suggesting that their former academy graduate would've become the player he currently is regardless of the former Barcelona coach's impact.
