Liverpool’s chief tormenter strikes again

Prior to today’s clash between Liverpool and Crystal Palace, Eagles striker Dwight Gayle had scored three goals in two Premier League appearances against Brendan Rodgers’ side – and he doesn’t score too many.

Much like Rickie Lambert scoring his first Liverpool goal in the absence of Mario Balotelli, there was a sense of inevitability that Gayle would score against the Merseysiders today.

After the Reds early opener, you feared that Liverpool may well run riot – similar to last season – however, Palace found a way back into the game through Gayle’s equaliser, although a lot of the credit has to go Yannick Bolasie who was instrumental in the build-up to Gayle’s goal.

Liverpool fans will no doubt be sick at the sight of the 24-year-old striker, especially when you consider that, that is Gayle’s first Premier League goal since the 30th August – he netted in Palace’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United.
