Liverpool’s Henry slams Gunners

Liverpool Striker Luis SuarezLiverpool owner John Henry has launched a scathing attack on Arsenal’s bid for Luis Suarez via his twitter account.

Yesterday it emerged Arsenal bid just £1; yes £1 over a £40 million clause trigger in the Uruguayan striker’s contract. The clause reportedly obliges Liverpool to inform Suarez that another club has made an offer for him in excess of £40 million. This has enraged the American tycoon who tweeted:

This development is likely to cause a level of animosity between the two clubs over the want-away Suarez.

Brendan Rodgers has told the media several times that Suarez is not for sale, but sources close to the club say an offer exceeding £50 million will be enough to prise Suarez away from Anfield.

Arsene Wenger is determined to succeed in landing his number one transfer target and this is shown in a record offer that will eclipse the next biggest transfer fee paid by the Gunners for a player. The Mail Online claim the Arsenal hierarchy has already agreed to give Suarez a contract worth £150,000, £30,000 up on his current deal at Liverpool.

Suarez has become a figure for controversy in England after incidents involving biting and racism. However this has clearly not put clubs off him, with Real Madrid also in the mix to sign him.
