Liverpool’s loss is Everton’s gain

As we all know, much is being made of Mario Balotelli’s failure to prove that it was money well spent by Brendan Rodgers in the summer.

Liverpool’s £16million summer signing has had a torrid start to life at Anfield as the Reds look to the former Manchester City striker to be the man to replace Luis Suarez.

It’s big shoes to fill but the Italian international talks a good game and clearly has the talent but, with every open goal missed, it becomes harder and harder to see a long term future for the one-time AC Milan striker.

Things won’t have been made easier on Balotelli with Samuel Eto’o, the man – or so the story goes – that Rodgers had lined up on a free transfer had the club been unable to sign Balotelli, bagging an impressive brace for Everton against Burnley today.
