They may play for the opposing sides in North London but Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has heaped praise on more man across the divide, telling a press conference that Euro 2016 in the summer helped make Laurent Koscielny into an even better player.
Arsenal centre-back Koscielny has created a strong partnership with new signing Shkodran Mustafi this season, helping fire the Gunners towards Premier League success, and Lloris was lavishing praise upon his compatriot’s ability ahead of tomorrow’s huge World Cup Qualifying clash with Sweden.
“The Euros helped Laurent to go to another level. Like a fair amount of players.”
“He is showing confidence, he is calm, thoughtful and important in the life of this squad. Every weekend, he shows he is at the level of some of the greatest European defenders, and even in the world.”
Spurs fans may not particularly like seeing Lloris heap praise upon a key-member of their rivals’ squad but it’s difficult to argue with their skipper’s views, as Koscielny has shown the ability to be one of the finest defenders within English football during recent seasons.
With Spurs sat three points behind Arsenal in the league standings, Lloris will probably be hoping for a minor blip for Koscielny’s form after the international break so that the Lilywhites can reduce the deficit.
