Man City & Chelsea have held talks with impressive Prem star

Manchester City and Chelsea have both held transfer talks about signing Barcelona outcast Alex Song, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The Cameroonian – who retired from international football earlier this year – spent last season at West Ham, but despite their desire to keep him, his future remains up in the air.

Song impressed for the Hammers across the 2014/15 campaign, and it appears that his performances in the claret and blue shirt have alerted Chelsea and Manchester City, who have reportedly both held talks regarding a deal for the player.

Despite having represented his nation at senior level, Song qualifies as a home-grown player, due to having spent a large chunk of his early career with Arsenal.

This, perhaps, makes him appealing to both sides, with adding players able to fulfil squad quotas a pressing concern.

Barca are willing to offload the midfielder, who pockets £70,000-per-week, for £5m.
