Man City looking to beat Manchester United in transfer battle

Manchester United Adnan Januzaj

David Moyes is fearful of losing teenage prospect Adnan Januzaj to Manchester City after failing to resolve a contract dispute with the talented midfielder, reports the Daily Mail.

Januzaj has been trying to resolve his contract issues with the Old Trafford club for the past six months to no avail, and is now thought to be seriously considering a switch to their Manchester rivals.

City have been monitoring the situation closely, and are tempted to launch an offer that would further infuriate United fans who have been left frustrated by the club’s failings in the transfer market this summer.

Januzaj appeared as a second half substitute during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, having previously appeared in the Community Shield under Moyes.

However the 18-year-old’s Old Trafford career may be short lived as he is out of contract at the end of the season, with it seeming more unlikely by the day he will sign a new deal.

The Belgian believes he is capable of challenging for a first team place at this stage in his career, and wants wages that will reflect that.

United have so far proved reluctant to meet his demands, although Moyes simply answered: “Yes”, when questioned as to whether he believed Januzaj would sign a new contract at Old Trafford.
