Man United & Arsenal face £31m battle for La Liga ace

Manchester United and Arsenal are facing a big money battle for Athetic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte, with reports from The Express claiming that Real Madrid are interested in the defender.

Both Premier League sides have been linked with the 20-year-old in recent times following his rise to prominence in La Liga.

The Frenchman is considered to be one of the division’s better young centre-backs and has been a mainstay in Athletic’s XI this season.

The Basque side are, naturally, reluctant to let him leave for any less than his £31m release clause, and reports claim that Real are interested.

It’s understood that United are reluctant to go any higher than £25m for his signature, while Arsenal’s interest may dip this month with the imminent arrival of Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal.

Real are thought to be looking at Laporte with Pepe and Sergio Ramos’ futures up in the air.
