Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester all appear set for disappointment in the race for Santos’ Gabriel Barbosa, with reports from Goal claiming that Inter Milan are favourites to sign the attacker.
The 19-year-old, who has been nicknamed ‘Gabigol’ due to his goalscoring record in Brazil, has emerged as one of the top young talents on the planet over the course of the past couple of years.
Indeed, he’s a regular in the Santos XI despite his age and has already been compared to Neymar, who used to play for the Alvinegro Praianos.
Gabriel is currently representing Brazil’s U-23s at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but his future has been the subject of some debate, with Santos’ president, Modesto Roma, having travelled to London to discuss deals with interested parties.
However, reports claim that it’s Inter Milan that are at the front of the queue for the teenager, not interested English clubs such as Man United, Chelsea and Leicester.
It’s understood that the Nerazzurri have agreed terms with Santos for Gabriel with talks regarding personal terms with the player due to commence after Rio 2016.
