Man United & Chelsea told to forget about summer target

Real Madrid have warned both Manchester United and Chelsea that star defender Raphael Varane will not be sold at the end of the season, according to the Daily Star.

The 21-year-old centre-back is widely seen as one of the best emerging players in his position in European football, and has been a first-teamer at the Bernabeu for some time.

But his struggle to gain minutes on the pitch – he’s behind Pepe and Sergio Ramos in the Los Blancos pecking order – has contributed to suggestions that both United and Chelsea are keen on him.

The latter were linked with a stunning deadline day move for his signature, while Louis van Gaal’s side are thought to be pondering a £35m raid at the end of the season.

However, reports now claim that Real are desperate to keep their man and will not entertain offers for him.

The European champions are not even willing to negotiate with other clubs, hinting that Varane has a big future in Madrid.
